WAKAMONO Surgical Mask - the antiviral surgical mask
The antiviral surgical mask is a disposable mask, for professional use to protect against the transfer of microorganisms, bodily fluids and particulates and has an antimicrobial and antiviral agent that kills specific pathogens on contact.
The Standard Surgical Mask
The basic quality standards established for every medical face mask in the UK and Europe are EN 14683 - Requirements and test methods” and ASTM F2100 “Standard specifications for the performance of materials used in medical masks”.
These standards define the tests that must be performed to evaluate the safety requirements and performance of surgical masks. The WAKAMONO surgical mask had not only reached, but exceeded the highest levels in the standard sets (EN14683 - Type IIR and ASTM F2100 - Level 3.

Safety Certified
There are no metal nanoparticles in the composition of the WAKAMONO surgical mask. They are made from a certified bioactive material (GECIDE layer) - the bactericidal nano particle compound coated on the GECIDE fabric layer penetrates the lipid bilayer of the pathogen. This inner layer is covered with millions of organic nanoparticles. These nanoparticles can form traps to weaken and destroy harmful pathogens (virus and bacteria). All the biocide organic and natural components used in the development of the surgical masks are safe in accordance with the in vitro cytotoxicity ANSI/AAMI/ISO 10993-5:2009 by Pacific Labs (USA).
Why doesn't WAKAMONO use old technologies that use nano-silver, nano-copper, nano-titanium particles?
A study (2014) from the University of Southern Denmark, published in the journal ACS Nano, found that if nano-silver enters a human cell, it can cause the development of cell-damaging free radicals. The overproduction of free radicals, in turn can lead to cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's as the researchers state in their press release:
“We don’t know how much is needed, so we cannot conclude that nano-silver can make you sick. But we can say that we must be very cautious and worried when we see an overproduction of free radicals in human cells." - University of Southern Denmark.
